Added New Idea Tip to Paper Rosettes

Make A Paper Flower Rosette Decoration on Squidoo.com just got an addition.

If you are familiar with the website you may already know it is loaded with ideas on how to use the zig zag fold using a round piece of paper. The new idea tip is #6. Use this fast technique for greeting card ideas.

With a few pictures I show how to use the Fiskars Easy Squeeze paper punch to make paper rosettes fast and easy. You could have a dozen paper rosettes in an evening using a punch.

Make an Origami Box with Lid

This origami fan spent many hours folding origami boxes on a camping trip. I started with one box and began thinking about, "What if I did this instead?" When my camping buddy came back from the creek he was a little curious about the pile of boxes. He need not worry about me, I was perfecting this rectangle origami box pattern for website presentation. One can not put any ole thing on the Internet.

The pictures I took that day were not very good, and another set I took at home, the coloring was off. The third set of pictures are the ones I have published on Squidoo.

Each step by step fold is a photo with simple short instructions, so that you will not go off track and become confused with the directions. This is easy and basic origami.

I was very surprised that I received Lens of the Day on Squidoo for this. One well spent day of camping.

Purple, Pink and Black Heart Valentine Card

A new greeting card with striking sunset in dark purple, black and pink topping a bright spot of deep yellow. This sunset is a heart in a tangled group of birch and tall sycamore branches outlined in black. A winter sunset framed between two suburban homes.

The picture could say a lot. For an example, "you are a bright spot after the sun sets," or "with you darkness does not exist". Last, "I am in a tangle over you."

You can get these heart greetings at Zazzle. If you like you can customize them inside and out. The card is printed to order on heavy card stock. Go to Zazzle to see all the details.

Tea Bag Folding Christmas Tree for Greeting Cards

Two years ago I shared on line the Christmas tree pattern I created for the tea bag folding style of paper crafts. This year it is popular and I have a new layout that I want to share with my fans. Use these two tea bag folding pattern ideas for your handmade Christmas cards.

The basic origami water bomb is used to make a tree shape using 12 tiles, like in TBF (tea bag folding). Fashion a tree stand according to my step by step instructions and you have a handmade embellishment for a Holiday greeting.

On the left is the new layout with the 2nd and 3rd rows (from the bottom) reversed.
The tree on the right is the first pattern. You can get a better shape if you glue the tiles in rows 3 and 4 closer together.

Full instructions are at Tea Bag Folding Christmas Tree for Greeting Cards

Squidoo Blog Hop and Sharing Linkys

Blog Hop is a new concept for me. Blog writers open up their blog and share links from other bloggers on their own blog. Marsha's Spot takes your link and shares it on Thursdays. The page to learn about it is Squidoo Blog Hop Info. The only rule is that the blog link you submit be about Squidoo.

That is easy for me. I am involved with Squidoo everyday and I get flack about it all the time. One thing leads to another when you are interested in Squidoo. Fun as  a video game because you will always find something new.

So I am writing this and including a Squidoo idea for you and I am going to submit it to Squidoo Blog Hop.

Halloween is coming and paper rosettes are fun to make for hanging on the front porch. I have found holiday paper at all the discount stores, such as, Big Lots!, Ross, and Tuesday Morning. Get a few packages to equal eight sheets of the same print. Usually, a package will have three of each style sheet. You will need three packages if you desire to fold rosettes with eight units all the same for the kaleidoscope effect.

If you do not want to spend that much cash make the rosettes with varied units and purchase one package. An example is the second pink and red rosette. They are just as eye catching.

My Squidoo tutorial How to Make a Paper Flower Rosette will lead you through the making of your Halloween decorations step by step. The tweens will want to make enough to fill the whole porch. This tutorial is Not boring. I have included many pictures.

Happy Squidooing and paper rosette making.

Make Mexican Red Rice

How to make Mexican red rice is a skill largely ignored until it is Cinco de Mayo. What happens when you want homemade tacos or the enchilada casserole the family likes? Red rice and refried beans are essential for making an impression when it is time to serve dinner.

I have both recipes waiting for you on the HubPages platform. The red rice is as simple as chopping onion, tomato, garlic and adding Knorr tomato bouillon. I take you step by step with photos, tips and what not to do. There are even links for you to browse other red rice recipes, just in case mine does not make your mouth water.

How To Make Mexican Red Rice

Pinto beans are the key to refried beans. This page leads the cook through the cooking process using the pared down necessary steps only. My experience was cooking for a family and working full time on the evening shift. No time for magazine methods. Instructions tell you how to get the beans simmering and in the freezer with no hassles. Simple and not from the can.
